Centered on data center solutions for 12+ years and
backed by the depth and scale of Madison Air, Nortek DCC’s expanding portfolio
is poised to help hyperscalers and co-locators cool the data centers of the future

OKLAHOMA CITY — October 7, 2024 — Nortek Data Center Solutions (Nortek DCC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Madison Air, today announced a record-breaking sales quarter, over 300% increase in new orders year to date and an expanded product portfolio of cooling technology to enable data center hyperscalers and co-locators to consistently and reliably protect critical infrastructure amid an AI-fueled data center boom.

During a time in which data center growth is fueling an arms race for equipment, Nortek DCC’s U.S. manufacturing and supply chain redundancies de-risk the ramp-up, with more than 3M square feet of onshore manufacturing capacity, a specialized tiger team of application and hardware engineers who represent the most innovative and solutions-oriented talent in the business, and a world-class service organization that’s integrated into the customer experience starting the minute the order comes in.

With customers using outdated or retrofitted HVAC equipment, Nortek DCC uniquely offers a data center-optimized portfolio with a range of air, liquid and hybrid cooling solutions and a track record of industry-specific innovation and reliability that goes back decades.

“We are at our best partnering with innovative companies to navigate their most urgent and complex challenges in mission-critical environments,” said Karin Overstreet, President, Nortek DCC. “We have one of the most comprehensive data cooling solutions offerings in the industry. Our products are best-in-class, reliable and efficient. Our service, quality and engineering teams are data center specialists and work together to benefit customers and their needs. There’s a reason our orders are up over 500% year over year: we deliver.”

Expanding Product Portfolio of Data Center Cooling Innovation

Nortek DCC (formerly a division of Nortek Air Solutions) has partnered with leading data center customers globally for over a decade to deliver a mix of liquid and air-cooled technology through a U.S.-based manufacturing supply chain and some of the industry’s best lead times. Building on that product and manufacturing excellence, Nortek DCC is expanding and updating its Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU) and Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) product lines to meet the growing demand for flexible, modular and energy-efficient cooling operations in a variety of data center applications.

AI-Ready Liquid Cooling

The demand for AI compute power is causing rack densities and temperatures to increase, necessitating a transition to liquid cooling solutions for new and retrofitted data centers. An expanded Nortek CDU portfolio delivers coolant directly to technical racks for high-density cooling in a compact and modular footprint. Key features include:

  • Variable coolant capacity from 300 kW to 1.2 mW across multiple sizes to fit common rack sizes for retrofitting or new construction.
  • An industry-first 25-micron filtration capacity for the technical water loop.
  • Built-in 2N redundancy and hot-swappable critical components for better reliability and simple servicing.

Energy- and Cost-Efficient Air Cooling

The Nortek Computer Room Air Handling Unit (CRAH) is designed for high-density load areas and delivers high cooling capacity in a compact footprint. Flexible and modular units are built for multiple applications and utilizes efficient fan technology to help reduce the total cost of ownership. Key features include:

  • Variable cooling capacity from 80-490 kW.
  • Footprint efficiency, utilizing 3.6-6.7 kW / square foot.
  • Single-point access for easy servicing.

Rising Demand, Record Adoption

The demand on data center workloads is increasing exponentially, and the computational power required for sustaining AI’s rise is doubling roughly every 100 days, according to the World Economic Forum. With massive demand surrounding AI operations and energy consumption, every link on the data center supply chain is impacted. As one of the only suppliers with a unique mix of liquid and air-cooling technology specifically engineered for data center environments, Nortek DCC is also experiencing record adoption of its focused portfolio of data center cooling solutions. In the third quarter of 2024, the company saw a 400% increase in year-on-year demand, which includes several hyperscalers.

“We’re experiencing a record ramp for our CDUs in terms of customer demand and will continue to drive momentum with a strong market-backed innovation roadmap for 2025,” added Overstreet. “We recently increased our manufacturing footprint by 150% to meet the demand at scale, enabling us to continue to deliver industry-leading products on-time, with every sale backed by the best service organization in the business.”
